Facemasks are a great way to nuture the skin back to full health. Especially during more heat-battering times like in July and August. They don’t have to be full of chemicals and can be super easy to make at home with ingredients you have.
One of the things we have been talking about and tackling in our HyggeBoxes is leftover stuff, getting waste-free and reducing plastic. Coffee grounds are overly wasted here in the UK — we drink a lot of it and the debate about recycling has been centered on coffee cups, but actually the grounds are more often than not just chucked in the bin. This is pretty pointless because there are so many ways you can reuse your coffee grounds.
Facemasks are a great way to use coffee grounds and hydrate your skin in July. Coffee is a fantastic natural scrub and is actually full of a lot of antioxidants that can be really beneficial for the skin.
So not only will you be doing your bit for environmental causes you can also help your face in the process too.
Here’s our July Facemask — Coffee:
The caffeine content in this mask is great for detoxifying and reducing the puffiness on your face. The yogurt base is great to restock moisture in your skin.
- 2 tbsp freshly ground coffee
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp yogurt
How to make it?
Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl to form a spreadable mixture. Allow it to dry on your skin for about 10 minutes. Since this would be a grainy mixture, exfoliate your skin by scrubbing gently when you remove this pack. Rinse thoroughly and enjoy your moisturised skin.
