The summer can be a difficult time for our skin, sometimes it needs a little bit of extra care. We apply lots of sun-cream, lots of a unsual products and it’s out in the sun for longer periods of time.
Facemasks can be a great way to repair your face and return some moisture and order back to it. There’s something lovely about creating your own facemask though rather than using those chemical laden ones that you can get in the shops. It is also a nice way to take some time making something that you know will be good for your skin and will not be full of things you don’t want to use. Plus it’s plastic packaging free — as long as you don’t choose shrink wrapped avocados.
This is one of our favourite recipes and it is great for sun-kissed skin that just needs a little extra nuturing in the summer. It is also super easy to make with very few ingredients.
Coconut oil replenishes the moisture, while honey repairs the chaffed and scaly skin. Avocado provides nutrition to your skin with a delicious smell and freshness.
Here’s our Avocado and Honey Facemask:
- ½ ripe avocados
- ½ tsp coconut oil
- 2 tbsp honey
How to make it?
Mash avocados to a fine creamy texture and add honey and coconut oil to it. Apply it all over your face and keep for 15 minutes until dry. Wash off with warm water and dab dry with a towel.
It should leave your skin feeling moitsurised and refreshed and ready to take on a little more outside love this June. Don’t forget to get outside and enjoy the sun — you could read our Plastic-Free Picnic tips to get you in the mood!
